Singing sensation Susan Boyle is to celebrate her 50th birthday with a party for close family and friends near her home.

Hundreds of fans from around the world have sent birthday greetings via the Britain's Got Talent star's website and Facebook page.

Talent show judge Simon Cowell has also sent his best wishes to an "amazing lady".

Susan Boyle is supporting a charity for Lent in memory of her mother.

The singing sensation is giving up her favourite chocolate and sweet treats until Easter to raise funds for the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (Sciaf).

"I am getting used to living there now and feel very safe and comfortable. It is close to my old family home so I am still a part of the community I love and grew up in."

But SuBo might be a little disheartened to see that she is also rubbing shoulders on the shortlist with recently-convicted perjurer Tommy Sheridan.

Organisers, the charity Scots in London, tactfully describe his reason for nomination as "for show ing his fighting spirit".

The Britain's Got Talent runner-up invited close friends and family for a house warming party on Saturday night after moving into the five-bedroom house in West Lothian.

Susan Boyle is planning a house warming party for all her friends.

The 49-year-old singer - who splits her time between two homes in West Lothian, Scotland - wants to invite celebrity pals including Piers Morgan and Simon Cowell along to the gathering, which will take place on Saturday night (15.01.11).

BIG-HEARTED Susan Boyle has forgiven the teenager she caught stealing from her home - even though he said he found his offence "very funny".

The 49-year-old singer revealed she feels nothing but pity for "desperate" Scott Millar, 17.

That is despite the youth flaunting a sheriff's order to donate £100 to Boyle's favourite charity by December 17 - and laughing as sentencing was deferred again until June.
