X FACTOR host Dermot O'Leary believes Susan Boyle would have been a massive FAILURE on his show.
The singer, from Blackburn, West Lothian, tried out for the hit ITV1 series before becoming a telly and internet phenomenon on Britain's Got Talent.
But straight-talking O'Leary insists that even if she had got through the initial auditions, she would never have had the same success as on BGT.
Dermot told The Scottish Sun: "I'd like to think Susan would have been a success on X Factor, but in reality it's most likely she wouldn't have.
"Sure, she has a great voice but she'd probably struggle with the dancing and the variety of songs contestants have to sing.

Re: Dermot: Boyle would've been X Factor flop
From what X FACTOR host Dermot O'Leary say, I can see the rule of his show is the law of the jungle. Very ruthless, I don't think Susan will make it to their final even she have the support all over the world. This is for purly for young people who may become future super star, diffferent from Britain's Got Talent.
Susan have to understand in any entertainment industry the rule of the game is the law of the jungle, she is lucky to meet Simon Cowell been very kind and understanding.
Most of us will not like what Dermot O'Leary had say, but what he say is true this is the rule of the game. I have seen so many such show in Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and USA not surprise.

Another person who does not know what the world really wants!

You are so right!! He sounds clueless about the inspiration we have all been able to feel.

Re: Dermot:Not Honest On Why Boyle would've been X Factor flop
Dermot makes all these "Comments" but fails to note that the X-Factor Show is totally geared to discovering YOUNG Singing Talent and is certainly NOT geared to discovering someone whose great Singing Voice has been dismissed and totally ignored by All for the First 47 years of their life.
Age (young) & Appearance (good looking or attractive) plus singing talent period, is the entire reason why Susan would not have had any success on the X-Factor but Dermot doesn't have the "balls" to say so in print.
Dermot is another one that would have been so much better off saying "Nothing At All" then commenting one way or the other on Susan Boyle.
He wanted, like so many, to get some personal attention in the media at the expense of putting down Susan "as not good enough" rather then express the honest truth why X-Factor is just not a good show for "Anybody over the Age of 30" and those age 25 to 30 are really pushing it on the X-Factor by even trying out!
If you want print space in the Media, then at least tell the truth about what the show is really all about...
Until the X-Factor produces a Winner over the age of "30" Dermot should really refrain from commenting on Susan Boyle at all.
You won't see Simon Cowell making this mistake and he's one of the owner's of the X-Factor Show because he's honest and "does know" what that Show is All About!.....

Re: Dermot:Not Honest On Why Boyle would've been X Factor flop
Very well written Bob! My thoughts as well. Idols and X factor are another kind of "game" and I wish to add that it's a pitty that older folks who would rather see Susan Boyle on TV usually are not familiar with sending SMS texts. And most of the older people do not want to spend a lot of money on normal telephonelines, completely understandable since most of them only live on a minimum retirement. But then again these kind of shows live by the telephonelines being called and the SMS' texts being send.
Re: Dermot:Not Honest
Hi Bob!
May I return the compliment. Your post above is 'right on'!
Many of these people are just 'bumping their gums' in the vain hope that maybe, just maybe, they can attract some attention.
Susan is unique - absolutely! Can't think of another person in recent history who has had such an accelerated rise to fame in the space of a few hours and who has come from such a quiet and non-professional background.
Her beautiful voice, her natural style and her age, have all added to her worldwide appeal. We can relate to her, she is one of us.
Susan is REAL - she has the 'magic touch', unlike so many of the young, phony, flaky and totally boring performers these days who have absolutely no idea of how to interact with their audiences.
Long live Susan. May she find some peace and joy in her new found career once this tour is over.
