TWO of Susan Boyle's biggest fans have flown thousands of miles to Scotland to pay homage to their idol.

New Yorkers Del and Leslie McMillan joined the trail of SuBo buffs across the Atlantic to sample the Boyle experience in her home village Blackburn - even though Susan's still away on tour.

Del, 82, and Leslie, 52, have sipped lemonade in Susan's seat in her local pub, been to her house, eaten her favourite fish and chips and visited her old primary school and church.

Re: Tourists fly in from New York to visit Susan Boyle's village

My mum, 72, and I, 45, have Leslie and Del beat!Ok so we are a tisch younger!!! We also traveled to Blackburn recently, June 27th to see where Susan grew up!(me from Northern California and mom is from Texas!!)
For those of you contemplating the trip - it's worth it. The people were so nice! I had a nip in every establishment - the two pubs = Happy Valley Inn (where Sid Moran/owner gave us each a Susan boyle button!) and Morans (where we had our picture taken with John Boyle and jumped up on the itty bitty stage! Tony the bartender/owner even turned the spotlight on for us!!!) and at the bowling club (members only but we snagged one - Michael Duff - and got in - haha!) then last but not least the masonic lodge which was orange and had just finished listening to a visiting band. They invited us in for a picture next to their banner (my mom's dad was an orange man and her mother - green....sigh)and for little sandwiches...i'm STILL writing thank you's!

Take the train at Waverly station in Edinburgh to the next stop - Haymarket and then the bus to Bathgate (usually you can take the train all the way to bathgate but they were working on the line) and then hop a smaller bus for the short ride to Blackburn. Just ask the drivers - they are great. Be careful what you ask however...mom and I were talking to Charlie and Douglas - the bus guys at bathgate about how it gets so light at 4am and doesn't get dark until 11pm! Mom asked Charlie,"What time do people go to bed around here?" and he said,"I don't know! I'm Married!!!!" Those scots are fantastic!

Also if you go to Edinburgh and love fantastic food- you MUST go to il Positano on 85-87 Newington Road not far from Pollock Halls (good place to stay cheap)Tell Giuseppi that Maria and her mom sent you! Every bite is amazing at this place!Even the strawberries/icecream/chocolate syrup/powered sugar desert!!!! OMG - i think I had too many of those!

The people of Blackburn are just real good down home folk. Here's hoping they stay that way - I'd live there!!!

So....if you want to know more - just ask!

What a nice story!

They are what would I call 'dedicated fans'. I'm sure Susan would be delighted to know they had traveled all that way to visit her hometown.
