Why glitzy America will never produce a Susan Boyle

America can stop looking for the next Susan Boyle; she's not out there.

She's a once-in-a-lifetime phenomenon from a country where music halls and amateur productions were always a huge part of life. She will never be matched.

Your star-making machinery is far more complicated than Britain's and someone like Susan would never have broken through over here.

Pffft. who's desperately seeking Susan? lol. OUCH. I beg to differ - she may have been discovered earlier if she was in America since we have the super mom's who push and that produce the neurotic Brittney Spears types... however I espouse her decision to stay home and take care of her mother after her father died. Two years after her mother's death it is time for her to fulfil her mother's wish. It is now her time to shine. America still loves talent and she will make millions from us. I think Susan is a refreshing change from all the hip hop black rap that seems to dominate over here. Go Susan, We LOVE you!!!

Ya know, I actually think Britain's got talent gave her more of a chance than America's Got talent would. This is not a judgement against the judges but as the article accurately states, America has easier access to the superficial, and the public has come to expect it. Susan's greatest gifts are phenomenal talent and a radiant heart. Some Americans have recognized how rare and wonderful it is while others still wonder why she walked on stage the first time with her eyebrows. Dang! Can anyone see the treasure inside???

Thanks for listening.

Hi Barb
With BGT there are no age limits. Do you have an equivalent talent show that would allow anyone of Susan's age to compete?
On the subject of eyebrows, men would notice it but be more relaxed on the subject. It seems to be the women who tend to talk it up into something they think of as "undesirable" or dare I suggest "unforgiveable". I never did appreciate female attitudes to fashion. LOL
