Why Susan did not win

This is not a question with only one answer as a few things were going on at that time.

1. The British press sometimes behave in nasty ways sometimes and
are inclined to build people up then try and then kick them down again so the adverse publicity (true or invented) could have had some influence on the voting.
2. Diversity were very very good, let's not take anything away
from them. They had an excellent coreographer plus a couple of
very cute young kids (always good for votes).
3. A lot of people here do not like excessive hype and there were quite a lot of people thinking she would walk it so perhaps they
thought "why bother to vote as she will win anyway". I tried to vote but after about 10 tries I couldn't get through so gave up (was I the only one?).

I think that bearing in mind the mental state Susan was in, comming second may have been the best outcome for her (not so much pressure to cope with). She was definitely the best singer by miles and there is no way that a group of dancers would ever get a recording contract so she still has an excellent chance to have her dream come true and seeing clips of her on the BGT tour, she seems to be enjoying every moment of it thank goodness.

Hi 'Jimmytheone'

Agree with all you have said. Susan can now go on to 'greater things'. The pressure of the press has settled down to a dull roar which should mean more peace and privacy for her. She can do what she loves to do, sing and not be hounded 24 hours a day!

Believe it was on this site somewhere (a few weeks ago)there was posted an interesting explanation for Susan's not winning the contest. It appeared from this posting that there was also some 'political interference' by the British Gov't. in the decision of who would win. If I remember correctly, it had to do with a grant which the British Gov't. gave 'Diversity' (again repeating your comment that they were very, very good and had good direction). It also mentioned that there was a consideration of 'race' and the person who posted gave several good examples of where this had been studied within universities. In other words, to avoid racial tensions there had to be a 'win-win situation' all around. -All in all a very different 'take' which was very interesting.

I'll try to locate that post and paste it here if I find it.

Hi Christine.
Nothing concerning political interference and the present UK Government would surprise me in the slightest (I'm sure I wasn't the only one who repeatedly tried to vote for her but never got an answer).
Something else worthy of note however is that all those newspapers who wrote nasty comments about Susan have conveniently forgotten to mention what a fantastic reception she had been given by the audiences every time she has performed on the BGT tour, I wonder why?

Re: Why Susan did not win

Hi 'Jimmytheone' :)

Yes, I agree totally! The reception Susan received was awesome and proved how very popular she is worldwide! It certainly made those 'sleaze bags' who badmouthed her look like a bunch of morons!

As to your comment about voting. On several sites there have been postings from people complaining about not being able to get through, etc., etc. Makes one wonder if there is any honesty anywhere left in this world! Pretty sad! (well, there is one honest person - Susan! ;)
