Even on e-mail, Scottish homebody-turned-singing-sensation Susan Boyle seems true to character - even if her life has been completely changed.

With the release this week of I Dreamed a Dream, the 48-year-old's debut disc of crescendo-laced ballads, her schedule is jammed, the transformation from life in a small town to world fame that complete.

But her polite answers in an e-mail interview still reveal the down-to-earth person she was during her star turn on Britain's Got Talent, seen by millions on YouTube.

Her handlers in Britain chose to cross out a question about the nature of her recording contract with Simon Cowell's Syco Music, which signed her after her reality-show appearances. Yet they decided to allow a question about her comment that she had "never been kissed." Why mess with such a bankable backstory at this point?
