Susan Boyle's brother has said that Kathy Bates should play her in the movie of her life.

Speaking to Radar Online, Gerry added that he is proud of what his sister has achieved.

"If an unknown woman from Scotland can go on to become the biggest-selling artist in America then anything is possible," he said. "We are all very proud of Susan and her dream really has come true with these fantastic CD sales."

Re: Kathy Bates 'should play Susan Boyle'

Well if Catherine Zeta-Jones feels the Susan Story in her heart, then she can do a compelling acting job. Make-up would be able to accomplish anything. And remember the chubby padding Robin Williams had for Doubtfire? It could happen. Younger scenes of Susan wouldn't be difficult at all really. I've seen Kathy Bates play strong and compelling characters to but I don't know why I've never seen her play anyone particularly sweet or humble. Can she do it? Or is her name coming up based on appearance only?

I will give anyone a chance at telling this wonderful story! I will be crying the whole way through anyway! LOL!

Re: Kathy Bates 'should play Susan Boyle'

Kathy Bates would be bad choice to portray Susan Boyle, should a movie be made of her life up to the present. Ms. Bates is 13 years older than Susan and I would like to see someone more appropriate in the role.

Re: Kathy Bates 'should play Susan Boyle'

Kathy Bates is a good actress, but I think they should use someone
a little bit younger.

Re: Kathy Bates 'should play Susan Boyle'

I agree with the above post. Catherine Zeta-Jones was the first to express interest and with her acting ability, she would be a likely and, I think, the best choice.

Come on...
We all love Susan Boyle.. but Catherine Zeta-Jones is too thin and beautiful to play Susan. Come on... :)

Re: Kathy Bates 'should play Susan Boyle'

Beg to differ...Actors have been known to gain all the weight necessary to give an accurate portrayal of a person. Example: Charlize Theron and Robert DeNiro have done it. If not the weight gain, then there is padding, Example: Bette Davis in "Now Voyager". As for alteration of the facial features, there is theatrical and movie make-up, and Meryl Streep in "Angels In America" was completely unrecognizable as The Rabbi. O.K.?

Of course, that means the movie will be Oscar worthy.
