Re: Simon Cowell Video Comments On Susan Boyle Topping UK Charts
Thank you again, Bob!
Simon is right when he says that 'Susan has broken the rules'.
It was high time to 'break the rules'. Generally speaking, I think that people around the world were getting tired of 'Barbie doll looks'. After many years of artists vying with each other for perfection in voice and looks it was becoming boring to the viewing public. Also, some artists were desperate enough to use very blatant 'suggestive sex' which I'm sure turned a lot of people off 'entertainment' (so called!).
Susan was an inspiration waiting to happen! She was someone fresh. She was not concerned about looks. She had a great sense of humour, she was herself in all ways, she had a pet cat 'Pebbles'. She was REAL - we could identify with her 'humanness'. Even her stress related 'burn out' ultimately had a positive effect on the viewing audience, thanks to the 'trash tabloids' which cruelly tried to bring her down. The laugh is now on them, because we could all relate to her difficulty in dealing with 'instant stardom' which she has overcome admirably. Could any one of us have done so well?
Susan made - and makes us happy just to see her. All that being said, she has a totally incredible, awesome voice which gives me shivers when I listen to her sing.
