When I learned that Susan Boyle's first recording was an instant best-seller, I began to think about what her startling rise indicates about these modern times.
Boyle has put a crimp in the recording business, where talent is no longer believed in. She has proven that there is more to arousing passion in an international audience than just endless marketing and inescapable promotion.
Unless one is literally dead to the sound and image of our electronic technology, it would be hard not to have heard about the true-life Cinderella story of Boyle.

Re: A happy tale to lift us all: Susan Boyle's Cinderella story
I'm glad to see support for Susan coming from every corner, including the NY Daily News. She has touched us so deeply, and has become our messenger of hope in her courage to stand up and sing in what appeared to be enemy camp, until she opened her mouth.
Too beautiful!
