For years she idolised Elaine Paige, singing along to her songs in her bedroom with a hairbrush for a microphone.
But it seems Susan Boyle's admiration for the 61-year-old diva may not be a mutual affair.
Miss Paige, who boasts 40 years in showbusiness and a £12million fortune, has haughtily dismissed the instant success of the Britain's Got Talent runner-up as 'a virus that swept the world'.
As viruses go, this one is certainly rather profitable.
SuBo, as she is rapidly becoming known, is expected to rake in £5million in a mere three months from the worldwide success of her debut album, I Dreamed A Dream.

Yes, it sounds like Elaine Paige is very jealous! Susan Boyle has a most wonderful voice, and Elaine Paige can't touch it. Sounds like resentment has set in on Elaine Paige's heart toward Susan Boyle, because she is loosing out with her Fame.
Susan Boyle needs to put out another CD soon and not hesitate any longer.
Susan Boyle my family bought your CD and will buy the next one too, etc. Susan please don't hesitate to make your next CD. We ~LOVE~ You Susan!

I think it does come across as if Elaine is showing a little jealously here. She states that huge success should come from years of hard work rather than a You Tube gone Viral. She doesn't seem to acknowledge Susan's gifts and talents. It's a little unfortunate. But goodness knows, Susan voice is breathtaking and her story inspiring.
EP seems to resent how quickly Susan has risen. And the article sort of understated Susan's success saying she has sold 3 million albums but it's over 8 million now.]
To not give praise for Susan's accomplishment is a conspicuous omission I think.
