A COMPLAINT against Newstalk Breakfast Show presenter Claire Byrne for calling singer Susan Boyle a “freak” and “not right in the head” has been upheld by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland.
In a finding published yesterday the authority said Ms Byrne’s comments were “inherently offensive”, “disrespectful” and “not editorially justified”.
Ms Byrne made the remarks on-air when she was speaking to presenter Tom Dunne, who was doing the morning programme that followed on from the Breakfast Show .

Re: Newstalk presenter censured
Claire, time to pack up and find yourself a new job. You're not "right in the head" for making such stupid comments about a wonderful woman that has so much more talent than you could ever wish for. Someone sounds bitter to me. I'm proud of Susan Boyle and everything she has accomplished. She is a role model to many! Any "regular" "average" person can dream and make it happen!

Agreed Susan Boyle Fan! It's so tiresome to see these shallow TV/Radio hosts go into their litanies of all of Susan's imperfections. Most of us have been so moved by what she represents, integrity, purity, and empowerment to rise above limitations. She is the epitome of what it means to be breaking down barriers.
I get inspired by her music deeply and daily. Don't stop Susan, except to rest when you need to!
